Searching for a professional plasterer?

We believe that plastering is an art that can only be mastered after many years of experience in the trade. While there are some DIY jobs that most people can manage, you will never be able to replicate the finish of a professional plasterer.

As our name suggests, plastering has always been one of the core services offered by Paul Carpenter Plastering and Building Contracts Ltd. We believe our success and long list of happy customers is down to the way we approach each project like it is our own home.

Here is just a selection of our recent plastering work:

Working across Herts and Beds, we come across a wide range of properties including period and heritage homes. Our work is always sympathetic to the style of the property and brings out the beauty of antique fixtures and fittings.

We are happy to plaster small porches, winding stairways, entire country mansions and feature walls.

Our plastering services

Skimming

This is the final, smooth finish to interior plasterwork allowing the first layer of paint to be applied. If your walls have suffered minor damage through wear and tear, we can re-skim walls and ceilings. The result is a neat finish so the wall looks like new.

Float and skimming

Similar to skimming, this technique is required on surfaces that lack strength or have bare patches. As the name suggests, we will need to apply a float layer underneath the final finish. The purpose of this approach is that it provides a stronger foundation before the final skim is applied.

Artex ceilings

Popular in the 1970s, this style of plastering involves heavily layered patterns. We are often asked to do artex removal which involves scraping back the top surface and re-skimming for a clean finish. In some cases we might advise using a layer of plaster-board.

Drywalling

Sometimes referred to as “dot and dab”, this method involves applying plasterboard directly on brickwork or breezeblocks using an adhesive. This can quickly provide a clean wall with an added layer of insulation.

Plaster-boarding

This is basically the same as dry-walling, except that the plaster-board is securely fixed directly onto a joist or timber frame to improve sturdiness. A final skim results in a smooth finish ready for painting.

Exterior rendering

Exterior plaster needs to be tough to withstand the British weather, so we mix a weather-resistant plaster using sand and cement. Depending on the style of the property, a wide range of finishes can be applied.
